About tesseracts and me

My fiance once asked me, “When is the shortest distance between two points NOT a straight line?”
I definitively answered, “When it’s a tesseract.”

About technology and tesseracts

The inspiration for my blog name is from one of my all-time favorite books, “A Wrinkle in Time” by Madeleine L’Engle. I named this blog because I sometimes think of tesseracts (or “wrinkles”) as a unique metaphor for using technology in education. If you’ve read the book, hopefully you can understand that technology can be a “wrinkle” or shortcut that we use to help us get from point A to point B. It is not a straight line (and often it’s not the fastest way, either), but it is better than not using technology at all.

When I first started this blog in 2008, it was to document an online Web 2.0 class/workshop through the Pennsylvania School Librarian’s Association, or PSLA.  Though I never finished the workshop assignments, I kept the blog.  Now as I start a brand new ereader program at my library, I decided to document my experiences as this is something new to many elementary schools.

About Me

I’m a teacher-librarian at Spring Ridge Elementary School in the Wilson School District in Pennsylvania.
